Stage 3

Details on our Film's opening scene

We wanted to make our opening scene look like a investigation room or police station. So, we decided to film in the main office since it has areas to make it seem like we're in a actually station. In the film there's going to be a detective, victim, and criminal. My classmate Destiny is playing the detective (Detective Johnson), Shyla's playing the criminal (Serena), and Dana is playing as the victim (Dalia). We decided to try and film during school. So, when we fil it can give a real life effect to it. Like how in a police station its busy, you here the phone ringing, etc. Our film will be a crime thriller and it the time of the film will be in 2015 instead of 2022. The film is going to give the audience a sense of anxiety and curiosity. We will be able to do this by using music and lighting. For example, low key lighting with a lot of contrast is great for communicating fear, anxiety, distrust, and evilness.

EXAMPLES OF LOW KEY LIGHTING

Using eerie music to give the audience a off vibe can help make the scene's representation show more. We will be using dialogue to converse with Dalia and Detective Johnson. We'll also use voice over narration to have the voices in Dalia's head be heard by the audience. We'll record the voice over on a recorder and then edit in the actual film later. The story board will show what's going to happen in the opening scene. So its mostly about the interrogation. This is some scene from our story board. Even though it's not so detailed, we tried our best.

We'll be shooting from February 25 through March 3. We'll be using our phones, lights, and a green screen since it's really a certain amount of things we can do in a school.

CASE STUDY BY ELI

History/Target Audience

So our class is doing a case study about a movie in our genre (Crime thriller). Crime thriller first started hitting America in the mid 90's around 1930s-1950s. But it first really emerged in the 1920s. Crime thrillers targeted people who had a interest in breath taking mysteries that last the whole movie. People enjoy having to guest who's the bad guy and who's right or wrong. Crime thrillers are good movies for people who likes to think what's going to happen instead of being able to know what might happened.

Production

Movie production is one of the key parts of the movie, The raw footage and other elements of the film are recorded during the film shoot, including principal photography is production. In the movie I picked " Patriots Day" the production was a important part to learning the film. In the movie Patriots Day the production companies that helped film the movie was CBS films, Hutch Parker Entertainment, Closest to the hole, Leverage Entertainment, and Blue grass films all helped film this movie. The one I'll prefer to pick out of these is CBS films because I don't know. It just feels like the right choice. But if I was to pick a movie production company, I would choose a larger movie production company but I would also fall back on some more smaller ones too. The reason is because some on the larger production companies are really expensive and if the movie doesn't hit we'll be in debt. But its not so bad to deal with smaller production companies because there prices are more reasonable. Production companies can also affect the audiences reaction too. There are also production companies that focus on certain genres and work on those. So production can help make the genre's message show more. Like comedy, horror, or more. But this is really all talk. Before I can even think about looking for a production family I'll have to develop a film proposal and make negotiations with the company. I'll have to find investors and then convince them to get a revenue. I'll have to do a lot to convince them but all I really have to do is make them believe that my movie is worth watching.

Distribution

Distribution is on of the vital parts for giving back the money you loaned from the Companies. By having your movies sell at movie theaters, making merchandise like how star wars have lightsabers and stuff, or having your movie on streaming services. You can make millions of dollars by the months go buy. You'll be able to pay all your debt off and have money to build your company. Production companies that specialized in crime thrillers is CBS Films, Regency Enterprises, and more. But I think that we should use CBS films for our film. Manly because i know of some of there work like movie wise and I enjoy some of the movies that they made. My film will be exhibited in movie theaters and streaming services like HBO Max. This is because it would be easier for people watch the film at home on streaming services and if you want to watch my movie online then you can watch at a Movie Theater. Then our company can make money at theaters and on streamin

g services.

Marketing

Marketing is a way to get movies out there. In the movie "Patriots Day" they used trailers and teasers to get there film out. So, the way I would market my film is by showing trailers but like multiple. I'll start off with a trailer that doesn't really show a lot to get people into the movie. Then I'll upload another trailer with more things of the movie and then I'll upload the teaser like of the opening scene to then make the audience really interested on what is going on.

Cross media convergence

In the movie Patriots Day they had their movie be on newspapers and on social media which I think its pretty smart. So, in my movie I'll have my movie on social media like Facebook or Twitter to get more recognition from my movie.

my script

Stage 1 for blogs

Day 1:

For my movie opening scene I want to make it under the genre Mystery. I want my opening scene to make the audience curious and to make them think. I want the audience to be shocked on what happens throughout the film but it all starts off with the opening scene. These five components are: the characters, the setting, the plot, the problem, and the solution. These are major conventions when thinking about making a mystery film. In most mystery fil in contains a victim, a murderer, a detective, the clues, and misdirection and twist. these all help the film makes its representation. But i want my movie to be about a thief that's stealing belongings throughout the school and the main character and his friends does their best to follow the clues and find the culprit. I'll research more about the genre mystery and I'll add more info as I go on.

Day 2:

I did some researching and found out that mystery doesn't really have a specific location. The location is sorted out depending on what the details are. Typically the setting sets the mood of a mystery genre and makes the film settle in.

Day 3:

Today one of my group members decided to join another group leaving us down to 2 members. So me and my group member decided to join another group of two making our group number to 4. SO scratch what I said before because we decided to do something new. Our movie name is called "The Blackmail Murders" and it will be a Crime Thriller. The movie will be about a girl named Dalia nd her bully from high-school framing her of murder. I'll get more in depth about the movie when the time comes. In this genre the setting usually takes place in a small town and there's usually one police department in the whole town. The characters conventionally are a sheriff, a victim, a suspect, police officers, detectives, and bystanders. These types of film are for people who likes a little of reality in what they watch. If you like cops, crime scenes, clues and stuff then this is the movie is for you. Some conventional things about this genre is that it usually takes place in our modern society or in like the 90's or in modern society.

Day 4:

I did some researching on the titles and in crime thrillers the titles be having a red or white font. The font of the letters be skinny or like long and big and they really give a presence on the board. There's a lot of warm colors but the only bright color you'll see.

These are some of the crime thriller movie posters you'll see. There are many more but I just picked the three I like. As you can see the movie poster have dark colors and shows a vivid message. These posters help the audience be able to guess what's going to happen.

EDITING SOFT WARE RESEARCH

                                                                        INTRO

Editing is an important part to making videos. Editing can turn a regular video to a exciting adventure. Today I was told to research about three different editing software's. The 3 i chose was Openshot.org, Clipchamp.com, and descript.com

                                                                    My Research
Now ill get straight to the point. The first thing I did was go on the websites I knew. Which was clip champ and openshot.org and I decided to play around with the sites. The site I really like the most is clipchamp. The website its self was my type of vibe and I liked how easy it was to just do things. Plus the sign in process was really quick and easy and I like that. Openshot wasn't as exciting as clipchamp. Openshot looked soo dull and was blocked by the school. Meaning I wouldn't be able to us it during class and get my work done in school. That's another reason why I liked clipchamp because it wasn't block by Broward schools. So after I played around with the websites I decided to look at reviews to see if there were any problems with the sites. As I read I saw that clipchamp had 4 and 1/2 stars and Openshot had about 4.2 stars. This showed to me that clipchamp was better but not by far. I then decided to research and find a editing software on my own. I did some researching and found descript.com. This website was pretty easy to use as well. the only thing about this one was that i had to download the editing software but it was fine. I still think i should decide to go with my approach with clipchamp. But as i played with descript.com and got to see how to use it. I equally like it as much as clip champ. But i like clip champ the best. So i think after all my research clipchamp is what I'll stick with. Reason being is because it fits in all the requirements and I also like it. Clip champ was able to be accessible from anywhere, ability to lay multiple tracks, ability to strip or mute audio and natural sounds from video ability to collaborate with other users. So this was my research I did on the editing software's
